A workshop of 12 craftsmen in northern Romania
Nord Builders is a family-run timber workshop in Repedea, Maramureș, a village deep in the mountains of northern Romania where every family has known how to work wood for as long as anyone can remember. We are 12 craftsmen, most of us born and raised here, building log cabins, garden shelters, and furniture for clients across Europe.
Tradition meets modern precision
Our head carpenters learned their trade from their fathers and grandfathers. In Maramureș, wood is part of everyday life, and the knowledge of how to read a log, season it, and shape it into a building has been passed down for generations.
But the workshop where we build your project is not a museum. Alongside the hand tools and joinery techniques we inherited, we run high-end industrial machinery: CNC routers for complex cuts, band saws, thickness planers, kiln dryers, and precision moulders. The blend is deliberate. The machines give us repeatable accuracy and tight tolerances on every piece. The hand of an experienced craftsman gives the finish the warmth and character that a factory line on its own cannot produce.
What you get from us is the best of both worlds. Solid wood throughout, no particle board, no cheap substitutes. Every post, every rafter, every joint is cut to the correct tolerance by the right tool, then fitted and finished by a person we know and eat lunch with.
What we build
We take on projects of all sizes:
- Cabins and tiny houses, from small studios to full timber-frame homes
- Outdoor structures, including pavilions, pergolas, carports, and garages
- Garden and wellness, with mini saunas, changing rooms, greenhouses, and outdoor showers
- Sheds and studios, from firewood shelters to backyard offices
- Pet shelters, including dog houses, cat shelters, and custom enclosures
- Kids’ play, from treehouses to playhouses built to last a childhood
- Furniture, including farmhouse tables and bed frames
How we work
We answer inquiries personally. The person who replies to your WhatsApp message is, in most cases, the same person who will show up at delivery. We send rough pricing the same day, a detailed quote within the week, and we do not take a deposit before you know exactly what you will get.
Delivery covers the whole EU. Our trucks regularly make trips to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, and neighbouring countries. For smaller items and furniture, we ship by freight.
